STYLING MY WESTERN CHIC KIYL HAT
If you're anything like me, you're always on the hunt for a new epic western chic hat brand! I was seriously scouring the internet for hours the other week searching for this new IT brand. After one glass of wine and 3 hours of painlessly searching, I finally found it: the brand Kiyl Hats.
I love a little back story about brands that I share about, especially when it's such an impactful one, so I thought I would share some more information below.
The unique bands on each Kiyl hat are skillfully crafted by global artisans who use cherished techniques that have been passed down through generations. Each purchase from this brand also directly supports the rural artisans who help craft the designs, their families, and their communities.
Did you know this specific hat that I styled was made from recycled denim too?! Me either!!!
So, the hat that I styled below is called the DIA. The hatband is handwoven from recycled denim and cotton yarns, and it was created in collaboration with a cooperative of Mayan women weavers in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala. These women also use a tapestry technique to weave each band individually on a small treadle loom; making each hat unique and specially handcrafted.
The band on the hat is also made from a recycled denim thread from The New Denim Project; where they collect and sort post-industrial waste from local garment factories. The process is chemical-free, dye-free, and uses minimal water and energy. The Denim Project is also committed to creating products that are all 100% natural. Talk about an incredible company to support!
Alright, so now that you know a little bit more about this company and the DIA hat that I styled, lets move onto my outfit deets!
